The Bicentennial Student Sustainability Challenge, impact200, is a hands-on learning opportunity for McGill students and recent alumni.

Make an impact

During the Bicentennial celebrations, students and recent graduates will be invited to form teams and submit proposals for transformative projects (Bright Spots) to enhance the sustainability of our campuses, our city, and the world. 

The Bicentennial Student Sustainability Challengeimpact200, will involve the creation of proposals, pitching, and mentorship*From initial submission of proposals, 30 teams will be selected as semi-finalists and invited to pitch their proposal. Ten (10) teams will be chosen as finalists and invited to develop their projects over the summer of 2021. Winners will be announced in November 2021. 

*Mentors will become available later in the challenge.

The challenge, impact200, is organized by the Bicentennial Office, in collaboration with the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship, the McGill Office of Sustainability (MOOS), the McGill Sustainability Systems Initiative (MSSI), a Student Advisory Group, and representatives of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.


McGill University is located on land which has long served as a site of meeting and exchange amongst Indigenous peoples, including the Haudenosaunee and Anishinabeg nations.
